Simm Endeavour Awards £1,000 cash donated at Carrigans, Blantyre in June 23 then a further £1,000 in November 2023: Total £2,000 Funding distributed to many good causes as follows:
- £50.00 cash donation to Just Giving for Blantyre’s McMillan Family as friends and family raise money following the passing of their child. June 23
- £50.00 cash donation to Aiden Rowan (22) who is skydiving for Butterfly Trust to raise money to help people with cystic fibrosis. 17/7/23
- £50.00 Carrigans Voucher donation to Blantyre man Jimmy Small left at Blantyre Miners Welfare on 17/8/23 after he cleaned Dalbeth Memorial to 1877 Pit Disaster.
- £50.00 Carrigans Voucher donation to Blantyre woman Carly Anne Lang following a tough year out of work due to sudden health reasons. Meal for Carly Anne, partner Bryan & their small son. 17/8/23.
- £50.00 cash to Caitlin Hutchison who runs dance school for kids at High Blantyre Church hall and Blantyre Miners Welfare. Trying to keep costs down. Donated on 28/8/23.
- £50.00 Carrigans Voucher to Gillian Robertson, Asda worker, who after hours helped an elderly lady home with her shopping. Donated on 31/8/23
- £50.00 Donation online to Steve Younger, High Blantyre Baptist Minister who took part in Scotland’s Memory Walk 2023 around Strathclyde Park on Saturday 16th Sept 23 in aid of Alzheimer’s Scotland.
- £50.00 cash donation to Joseph Potts Macmillan Coffee Morning for Cancer support at Glasgow Road shop on Fri 22/9/23
- £400.00 cash (£250 on 22/9/23+ further £150 cash to ensure project goes ahead) towards new Permanent, bespoke £2k Display Cabinet at High Blantyre Cemetery (with 25 year lifespan) telling story of the pit disaster via Blantyre Miners Welfare.
- £50.00 Amazon order for Multiple Lest We Forget Fabric Banners and Cable Ties (for decorating Blantyre pedestrian railings on Remembrance) bought on 22/9/23.
- £30.00 donation to CWA MacMillan Coffee Morning for Cancer Support at their offices on Thu 28/9/23.
- £50.00 Carrigans Voucher as 9th November charitable gift on Blantyre Telegraph Facebook page to random winner Courtney Russell. Well done Courtney!
- £100.00 on 25th November by Paypal to local woman Debbie Dixon, the mother of 20 year old brave Blantyre man Daniel Dixon, who was in hospital for 3 years following a horrific crash in 2020.
- £50.00 in form of 5 x £10 to 5 elderly customers in Asda, on instruction of Agata, a kind Blantyre nurse at Monklands Hospital, who gave up her own voucher, asking us to do this instead to help others. Benefiting 5 others.
- £100.00 as 4 x £25 Asda Vouchers to spread some festive cheer given to the ladies at Blantyre Old Parish Church Christmas Fayre as 4 separate raffle prizes at the fete on Sat 25th Nov 23. Supporting 4 small local High Blantyre home businesses.
- £100.00 of Christmas Selection boxes (48nr) for 48 children at local nurseries. Received by Deborah B at end Nov 23. Posted online story 09.12.23
- 2 x £25 Asda Vouchers and 6 x £10 cash donations made to local business stalls at David Livingstone Memorial Primary School’s Christmas Fayre, supporting 8 small local businesses on evening of Wednesday 29th November 2023.
- £300.00 cash given to Agnew’s Cafe of Glasgow Road, Blantyre to buy 30 Children’s xmas presents for Santa to distribute on Sunday 17th December 23.
- 3 x £40.00 Amazon Vouchers as Christmas raffle prizes to Blantyre Telegraph nominated readers who needed a lift this festive season with 2 further x £40 vouchers used to buy food, handed into Nazarene Hall, Blantyre Food Bank. Weeks commencing Mon 11th and 18/12/23.
- 11 x £10 cash given to 11 separate elderly shoppers to assist with their shopping as festive surprise on evening Tue 19/12/23. Randomly given out at outside Asda and Cost Cutter High Blantyre.

- Further £100 cash donation from Jimmy Small for the Pit Disaster Cabinet, handed to Miners Welfare to assist with Cemetery project in advance of October reveal. (Sep 23)
- £140 donated to British Heart Foundation incl. gift aid. (Aug 23)
- £100 raised for 2 Blantyre Community wreaths for the Pit Disaster Memorials supporting local business ‘Dreams to Themes’ and placing wreath at both memorials. (Sep 23 for Oct 23)
- £100 raised for buying further 2 Community wreaths for the Cenotaph remembrance, again supporting local business. 1 placed High Blantyre Cemetery, other at Auchentibber. (Oct 23)
- £240.32 restocking new copies of all Blantyre Project books in Blantyre library. (Sep 23)
- £50.00 for MacMillan Coffee Morning at CWA workplace (Sep 23)
- £15.00 to the lady and her dog at Livingstone’s Cafe who forgot her purse and was about to walk home. Her lunch was paid including a sausage for her dog! (Oct 23)
- £200.00 for a whopping 70 brand new illustrated, colourful children’s books to replenish the school and nursery library at High Blantyre Primary School. (Nov 23)
- £160.00 for 4 x brand new children’s beanbag seats for school library. Handed to school at their Christmas Fayre on Thursday 30th November 23. (Dec 23)

















and into 2024….
Several excellent donations were therefore possible BACK to local good causes. £153 donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, £100 to the Moores supporting the Haven, £100 to the Scouts Summer raffle, £184 to buy 2 new trolleys for David Livingstone Birthplace, £80 for Addicted to Life Group and £50 supporting Dionne Hossack for Little Princess Trust.






In August 2024, £200 donated to Cambuslang Rangers for sponsoring Blantyre goalkeeper Ryan Burns, £75 to Melanie Hutchison for vouchers following a horrific attack at the Calder and £60 to buy Scott McFadyen’s mother a new fire pit after it was stolen from her Blantyre garden.



September 24 – November 24
£200 to Calderside Academy for their Halloween Party, £150 to Blantyre Beacons for their Christmas Party, Buying 4 remembrance and Pit Memorial wreaths on behalf of the whole community, various Cake surprises to residents and businesses on our ‘Cake Saturday’, £100 to Davie Fotheringham lollipop man, £145 worth of new books to Blantyre Life, £60 Raffle Prizes to schools, as well as loads of more minor gifts for local kids to celebrate their kindness or successes! £170 to help hungry families.









and finally for 2024, in December….£7 replacing a lost toy for a child, £25 new dogs bed for Suzanne McA and £125 for the Toy Drive at Family Tree Childcare in Broompark Road.
